Section 1

Terms of service

1.1Plans and prices

The open atlas needs no account. A free account adds three full country files per calendar month (UTC). Unused files do not carry over, and one person may hold one free account. Personal is for one named user at $29 a month, or $228 a year. Teams costs $35 per named user a month, or $300 per user a year, with at least three users, and the owner's seat is one of them. Seats may not be shared or rotated among people. Seat changes are prorated by Paddle. API costs $4,990 per organization a year under an Order Form, for one key, up to ten named people who see API data in the subscriber's systems and up to 10,000 requests a day. Larger use is priced by quote.

1.2Our reseller

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle's buyer terms apply to the purchase, and these terms apply to the use of ATLAS. Teams and API customers who pay by invoice contract with EMMA directly under an Order Form.

1.3Taxes

Prices are in US dollars, per month or per year as shown, and exclude VAT, GST/HST, sales and similar taxes. Paddle adds the tax that applies where the customer is and shows the full amount before payment. EU business customers who enter a valid VAT number are charged without VAT under the reverse charge. Bank and currency conversion fees are the customer's.

1.4Contract

A contract is formed at online checkout or when both parties sign an Order Form. Marketing material, including the ATLAS brochure, is not an offer that can be accepted.

1.5Renewal, cancellation and price changes

Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly billing period until cancelled. Cancel at any time on the account page or by email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid. A monthly plan can switch to yearly billing at any time, and Paddle credits the unused part of the month. Price changes are announced at least 30 days ahead and apply from the next renewal, and the customer may cancel before then.

1.6Refund policy and money-back guarantee

If ATLAS is not useful for your work, ask for a refund within 14 days of your first payment for a plan, on the withdrawal form or by email, and we refund that payment in full. After those 14 days, fees for a period that has started are not refunded unless the law requires it, or unless EMMA ends the service early, in which case the unused part is refunded. Paddle pays refunds to the original payment method, usually within 5 to 10 business days.

1.7Founding rate

A customer who subscribes on or before March 31, 2027 keeps the price agreed at checkout for as long as the subscription continues without a break, including through later list price increases. The founding rate ends if the subscription ends or changes plan.

1.8Right of withdrawal for consumers

A consumer resident in the EU, the EEA or the UK who buys Personal may withdraw within 14 days of the contract without giving a reason, by a clear statement sent to office@emmaconsulting.space or with the online withdrawal form. If the consumer asked for the service to start within the 14 days, a proportionate amount may be kept for the days used. Under the money-back guarantee in 1.6, EMMA refunds the first payment in full anyway. Teams and API are sold to businesses only.

1.9Accounts

An account belongs to one person, who keeps the password confidential and the details accurate. The owner of a team decides who holds its seats and may remove members. EMMA may suspend an account that breaches these terms, after notice where that is reasonable.

1.10License and acceptable use

A paid plan grants a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use ATLAS for the subscriber's own professional work while the subscription runs. Short extracts may be quoted with the credit "Source: Sovereign Space ATLAS, EMMA Aerospace Consulting". It is not permitted to share log-ins, to open several free accounts to multiply the free allowance, to scrape or systematically extract content beyond the export functions provided, to resell, republish or redistribute content or data, to use content to train or fine-tune AI models, or to remove source citations and notices.

1.11API data

API data may be used inside the subscribing organization, by the number of named people in its Order Form, in internal tools, and in deliverables to its own clients as non-substantial extracts with attribution. It may not be redistributed as a dataset, shown to more people than the Order Form allows, or used to build a competing service. API keys are confidential, and the subscriber is responsible for their use.

1.12Service levels

ATLAS is provided with reasonable care and skill but without an availability commitment, unless an Order Form states one. Updates follow the published schedule, with the briefing filed by 06:00 UTC, and may be delayed when sources or systems are unavailable.

1.13Liability

To the extent the law allows, EMMA's total liability under a subscription is limited to the fees paid in the 12 months before the claim, and EMMA is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or decisions taken on the basis of ATLAS content. Nothing limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including for intent or gross negligence, or a consumer's statutory rights.

1.14Sanctions and export controls

ATLAS is not offered to persons or entities on the sanctions lists of Canada, the EU, the UK, the US or the UN, or to anyone in a territory under comprehensive sanctions. Subscribers confirm they are not such a person. ATLAS content is compiled from publicly available information.

1.15Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction. Consumers keep the protection of the mandatory law of their country of residence and may also bring proceedings in their home courts.

Section 2

Content and AI notices

AI-generated content

The daily briefing, its narration and parts of the country files, stakeholder maps and engagement summaries are generated with generative AI from cited public sources. The daily briefing is published automatically, without human review before publication. The narration is a synthetic voice, not a recording of a person. AI-generated content is labeled where it appears, in line with Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689). Report errors to office@emmaconsulting.space. Corrections appear in the next update.

2.1Information only, not advice

ATLAS compiles public information from official and reputable sources and links each record to them. Budgets, shares of GDP, defense and R&D figures and astronaut counts are best available estimates and show their source, year and a confidence or verification label. Content can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and is provided as is. Nothing in ATLAS is legal, regulatory, export-control, investment, financial or political advice. Check the primary source before relying on any item.

2.2Maps and names

Boundaries, names and designations on ATLAS maps are simplified for display. They imply no opinion of EMMA on the legal status of any country, territory or area, or on the delimitation of its frontiers.

2.3Sources and attribution

ATLAS draws on the IMF World Economic Outlook, World Bank Open Data (CC BY 4.0), the SIPRI Military Expenditure Database, the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, NATO defense expenditure reports, national budget laws and agency publications, ESA, NASA and other agency releases, the IAF public member directory, Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0) where cited, and map data from Natural Earth and the US Census Bureau. News headlines belong to their publishers and link to the original articles.

2.4Trademarks

EMMA, the EMMA mark and Sovereign Space ATLAS are trademarks of EMMA Aerospace Consulting LLP. All other names, logos and brands, including those of space agencies, companies, conferences, the International Astronautical Federation and news publishers, belong to their respective owners. They are shown only to identify those organizations and events, and imply no endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation.

Section 3

Privacy policy

3.1Who is responsible

The controller is EMMA Aerospace Consulting LLP (see the imprint above). Contact for all data protection matters: office@emmaconsulting.space.

3.2What we process

Reading the open atlas: no account and no cookies. Your watchlist stays in your own browser. Our servers keep standard logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) for up to 30 days for security.

With an account: your name, email address, organization if you give it, a hashed password, your watchlist, your team membership, the team notes you write, the country files you open with the free allowance, whether you agreed to receive news, and sign-in and security logs.

With a paid plan: Paddle, our reseller, collects the payment details, billing address and tax number and handles them as a separate controller under its own privacy notice. Paddle tells us the customer's name, email, country, plan, payment status and invoices. Card data never reach EMMA.

3.3Why, and on what legal basis

To provide the account and the subscription (contract). To keep tax and accounting records (legal obligation). To secure the service, prevent abuse of the free allowance and improve ATLAS (legitimate interest). To send news about ATLAS, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time, with an unsubscribe link in every message, in line with the GDPR and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation.

3.4Who else receives data

Laravel Holdings Inc. (United States) hosts the service and its database on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in Frankfurt, Germany. Our email delivery provider sends account and service emails. Both act on EMMA's instructions under a data processing agreement. Paddle receives the data it needs to sell the subscription, as described in 3.2. Within a team, the owner sees the name and email of each member, and every member sees the team's watchlist and notes with the author's name. Authorities receive data where the law requires it. EMMA does not sell or rent personal data and does not use it for advertising.

3.5Where data is processed

The service and its database run in the European Union, in Frankfurt, Germany. EMMA works from Canada, which the European Commission recognizes as giving adequate protection to personal data handled by commercial organizations. Where a provider accesses data from the United States, the transfer relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, and otherwise on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

3.6How long

Account data for as long as you keep the account. You can download it or delete the account at any time on the account page, and after deletion it is removed from backups within 90 days. Records of free country files opened are kept for 13 months. Withdrawal requests, invoices and tax records are kept as long as tax and consumer law require: six years in Canada, and ten years for EU VAT records held by Paddle.

3.7Your rights

You may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interest, on the account page or by email to office@emmaconsulting.space. We answer within one month. You may complain to the data protection authority where you live or work, to the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

3.8Cookies and browser storage

ATLAS sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and the open atlas sets no cookies at all. When you sign in, ATLAS sets a session cookie and a security token that protects forms, and a remember-me cookie only if you choose to stay signed in. These are strictly necessary for the service you asked for. The checkout loads Paddle's payment page, which uses cookies needed for payment and fraud prevention under Paddle's cookie policy. Preferences stored in your browser are never shared. If analytics are added, consent will be asked first where the law requires it.

3.9Accessibility

ATLAS is designed to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. If something blocks you, write to office@emmaconsulting.space and we will fix it or provide the information another way.

Section 4
